Is it worth a day?

An hour sees it; the return decides it

Positano is beautiful, vertical and smaller than you expect: an hour is enough to see it. A whole day is only worth it if you swim, eat and leave at the right time.

The part that costs you is the way back. In summer the bus is crowded and the road is slow; the ferry runs only in the warm months. From November the last bus leaves earlier. Our advice: go in April–June or September–October, take the bus out, leave Positano at least an hour before the last departure, and treat it as half a day.

Two different days

The Path of the Gods ends at Nocelle, above Positano. It is a full day on its own: do not try to fit the village and the walk into the same day. See the Path of the Gods guide, and the Positano beaches if you are going to swim.
